Electricity rates
Electricity rates in Ontario are set by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB). Rates are calculated using a 12-month forecast that helps make pricing more stable, predictable and fair both for users and for generators.
As of November 1, 2011, the current rates in Ontario are:
- 7.1¢/kWh for the first 1,000 kWh used per month
- 8.3¢/kWh for all kWh used above 1,000 kWh per month
Time-of-Use rates
By the end of May 2012, all residential customers in Mississauga will have switched over to Time-of-Use (TOU) rates. With TOU rates, the price of electricity depends on when you use it. There are three different prices for electricity:- 10.8 ¢/kWh — 'On-Peak' (when electricity demand is highest)
- 9.2 ¢/kWh — 'Mid-Peak' (when demand is moderate)
- 6.2 ¢/kWh — 'Off-Peak' (when demand is lowest)
