What are Electric and Magnetic Fields (EMFs)?
It is a modern fact of
life that whether we are at work, at home, or at school, we are all exposed to electric
and magnetic fields (EMFs) produced by the generation, transmission, and use of
electricity.
An electric field is produced
by voltage or an electric charge, while a magnetic field is produced by the flow
of current in a wire or an appliance. Both are invisible fields that surround
any source of indoor or outdoor power.
The most common exposure
to EMFs is from household wiring, computer monitors and standard household appliances.
Many concerns have been
raised about the health effects of EMFs, prompting over 30 years of research and
scientific information-gathering on the topic. To date, no link has been established that indicates
EMFs have any impact on human health.
