Dig safely. Please take a moment to contact Ontario One Call before digging or drilling
on your property. It's a free service. It's also the law under the Occupational
Health and Safety Act: all underground utilities must be located before you dig.
And it could save your life.
You can reach Ontario One Call at 1-800-400-2255 or
visit them online.
Ontario One Call is a non-profit organization supported by Enersource and other
utilities that helps homeowners easily locate any underground services. Contacting
Ontario One Call keeps you safe and eliminates the inconvenience, potential legal
action and restoration costs that can result from a loss of hydro, telephone, or
gas services.
Simply provide the details of your project and Ontario One Call will notify the
utilities with underground facilities in your area. If there are any buried cabling
or wires on your property, they will be clearly marked before you dig. Please allow
at least one week in the timing of your project to complete this process.
And when you're planning a home project, don't just think about what's underground.
If you're working at any height near hydro wires, keep in mind where a branch you're
sawing may land or where a ladder might fall. If you have any doubt about the safety
of your project, please call our Customer Service Centre at 1-800-400-2255.
