Earth Hour
Earth Hour 2012 is happening on March 31st, between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Earth Hour is a global initiative where cities and communities turn out their lights to symbolize their commitment to finding solutions and raising awareness for climate change. Since its inception in 2007 the event has grown into an internationally recognized event that raises awareness of climate change and energy conservation.
Earth Hour started in Sydney, Australia - 2.2 million homes and businesses turned off their lights for one hour. In 2010, 128 countries and territories joined the global display of climate action. In 2011 that number increased to 135 countries – spanning 5,251 cities across all seven continents. People across the world from all walks of life turned off their lights and came together in celebration and contemplation of the one thing we all have in common - our planet.

I will be spending my earth hour indoors reading by candle light and remembering a time before electricity, when candles were precious commodities used for very specific purposes.
It's my birthday, so I'll be celebrating with my fiancé and some friends over a candlelit drinks & dinner!

As an Average Joe/Jane, we're really limited to what we can to do to drastically change the world. We can't fix all of the problems we've caused to our planet overnight, but we can turn the lights off & unplug the power bars before leaving the house every day. Every little bit counts. And spreading that message is just as important.
I'll be having neighbours over to enjoy great conversation, some snacks and refreshments. Spending time together with no distractions always ends up being a lot of fun!
