Mississauga utility reaches one million hours worked without injury
Staying true to its motto of ‘Safety First’, Enersource today announced that employees had reached a milestone, recording one million hours worked without a lost time injury.
"At Enersource, we’ve built a culture of safety that spans the entire organization," said Craig Fleming, President & CEO, Enersource Corporation. "Whether it’s walking down a flight of stairs, working in the field or with the local community, safety is always top of mind."
Last week, Enersource was lauded by the President & CEO of the Electrical & Utilities Safety Association (E&USA), Ted Vandevis, who presented the company with the ZeroQuest President’s Award, E&USA’s highest safety honour, in recognition of this landmark achievement (see attached picture).
Keeping Enersource’s safety culture alive isn’t something that the local energy distributor takes for granted.
Each year, employees, particularly those in the trades and technical positions, undertake a rigorous training regime designed to ensure they’re using the best industry practices and equipment. Last year, Enersource adopted the ‘Safety First’ slogan which is now prominently featured on all of the company vehicles.
"Enersource is proud of our exemplary safety record, both in the workplace and the community," added Fleming. "As successful as we’ve been though, it’s something we’re constantly striving to improve, one day at a time."
