Our hiring process
We need skilled, committed people to help us deliver more than energy. If you'd
like to be one of them, we'd like to hear from you. In addition to our standard
hiring process, we also have an apprenticeship recruitment program.
Here's how our standard hiring process works:
- You submit
your resume.
- We assess your skills and experience based on the position you're applying for.
- If you meet the required qualifications, we'll put your name on a shortlist.
- We'll then conduct a brief phone interview with you to confirm that you're
a suitable candidate for the job. If not, we'll keep your resume on file for
six months and will check it when other job opportunities become available.
- The next step is an in-person interview with us — the panel may include the Supervisor
of the position you're applying for, and a member of our Human Resources team.
This is our chance to get to know you better, and your chance to learn more about
us and your potential role with us.
- You'll then take some tests that relate to the position you're applying
for. If, for example, you're applying for an office role, testing might include
some use of Microsoft® Office software. You'll also answer a questionnaire
to assess whether your characteristics, potential and motivation make you the right
fit for the role.
- We'll ask you for professional references and obtain your consent to conduct
a criminal check and driver's check if driving is part of the job.
- We'll make a decision and, if you're successful, we'll extend a written
offer. The offer is conditional upon passing a job-related medical test.

Apprenticeship recruitment
Our skilled trades are essential to our operations. We offer excellent formal,
four-year apprenticeship programs that lead to journeyman status. Here's how
it works for an apprentice lineman/cableman position:
- You submit
your resume.
- We assess your skills and experience based on the apprenticeship requirements for
the position.
- If you're short-listed, you'll meet with company representatives and we'll
test your mechanical aptitude and general electrical knowledge.
- The next step is an interview at Enersource with supervisors/managers from our Engineering
and Operations team and a Human Resources Representative. This will help us learn
more about you and whether your skills meet the needs of the position you're
applying for.
- You'll undergo testing that includes:
- A half-day of hands-on testing at Enersource
- Height testing to make sure you're comfortable working 70' above the ground
- Strength and endurance testing to make sure you can physically manage the strenuous
physical demands of this work
- A questionnaire to assess whether your characteristics, potential and motivation
are suited to this role
- We'll ask you for professional references and obtain your consent to conduct
a criminal check and driver's check if driving is part of the job.
- We'll make a decision and, if you're successful, we'll extend a written
offer. The offer is conditional upon passing a job-related medical test.
