Mississauga Powered Down for Earth Hour 2009
On Saturday March 28, 2009 between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Mississauga residents and businesses "voted Earth" and reduced electrical demand by 9.8 per cent.
In partnership with the City of Mississauga, Enersource educated residents and businesses about the importance of Earth Hour and energy conservation throughout the year. Enersource participated in Earth Hour by turning off all non-essential outdoor and indoor lighting at our head office location, including the LED road sign and decorative light fixtures. We also challenged our large business customers to shift non-essential electricity off of the one hour period. Thanks to the following businesses for participating:
Earth Hour 2008
In 2008, Mississauga reduced electricity demand by 3.6 per cent.

Earth Hour began in 2007 in Sydney, Australia as 2.2 million homes and businesses turned off their lights for one hour.
