Customer Notice: IESO to Perform Routine Voltage Reduction Test on July 15
Mississauga, Ontario - Thursday, June 24, 2010
At Enersource, we believe it’s our job to help you stay informed.
That’s why we’re letting you know that on July 15, 2010 Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) will be performing a voltage reduction test.
On this day, there will be a three percent voltage reduction between 9:00 a.m. EST and 10:00 a.m. EST, followed by a five percent test between 13:00 p.m. EST to 14:00 p.m. EST.
The IESO measures the load reduction resulting from these tests and uses this information to analyze and update emergency preparedness procedures. Voltage reductions are tested every 18 months to simulate emergency actions available to the IESO in order to maintain system reliability.
Electricity consumers should be unaffected as voltages will remain within the industry standards specified for equipment used by residential and commercial consumers.
You can learn more about voltage reductions on the IESO website at: http://www.ieso.ca/voltagereduction or by calling 1-888-448-7777.
