Customer Notice: Ontario Energy Board Announces New Energy Rates Effective May 1, 2010

In the coming months, Ontarians will begin to see a number of changes to their home energy bills. At Enersource, we’re working hard to make sure you understand these changes.

Residential customers will notice the first of these changes starting May 1, 2010. Electricity rates were recently approved by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB).

Regulated Price Plan (RPP) rates* are adjusted by the OEB semi-annually and are reflected on the “Electricity” line of residential consumer bills. Beginning in May, RPP rates will increase to:

• 6.5 cents per kWh for the first 600 kWh consumed each month; and
• 7.5 cents per kWh above that.

Residential customers will also notice a change to the “Delivery” portion of their bills. This charge relates to the delivery of electricity to your home via the Enersource distribution system. This charge will increase on average by 2.30 per cent.

The overall impact of these changes to an average residential consumer using 800 kWh per month will be a total average increase of approximately 11.3 per cent.

Customers should also note that the new provincial Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) will take effect this summer. Time-Of-Use Pricing is not yet in effect in Mississauga. Enersource will continue to provide information about these and other Ontario government initiatives in the future.

To learn more about these latest changes, please visit the OEB website at www.oeb.gov.on.ca or call (416) 314-2455 or 1-877-632-2727.

*NOTE: These rates do not apply to residential customers who choose to purchase their electricity from an electricity retailer.
